Your agreement with us

What this is

Bay Book runs Bay Book, a booking tool for auto shops. These terms cover shops that sign up and people who book through a shop's page.

If you're a shop

You're responsible for what you put in and what you tell your customers. Keep your password to yourself. Give your techs their own codes rather than sharing your login. You can leave any time, and your data goes with you — ask and we'll export it.

You agree to only text people who gave you their number through your booking page, to honor anyone who replies STOP, and to follow the phone companies' rules about business messaging. If you ignore that, carriers will shut off your number and we'll have to shut off your texting.

If you booked through a shop

Your appointment is with the shop, not with us. We pass messages along and keep the record. Prices, repairs, timing and anything about your car are between you and the shop. We don't inspect cars and we don't set prices.

What we don't promise

We try to keep this running, but we don't promise it never goes down. We're not responsible for work a shop does or doesn't do, for an appointment that gets missed, or for a text that a carrier doesn't deliver. If something we do costs you money, what you can recover is limited to what you paid us in the last three months.

Money

Shops pay monthly. Cancel whenever — you'll keep access through the period you paid for. We'll give you notice before any price change.

Ending it

We can close an account that's being used to break these terms or the law. We'll tell you why, and you can get your data out.

Privacy

The short version

We keep what a shop needs to run appointments, and nothing else. We don't sell it. We don't use it for advertising.

If you booked a car in

We keep your name, your cell number, your email if you gave one, your vehicle, what you said was wrong, and the record of your appointments and prices with that shop. Your phone number is how we find your booking — there's no account and no password.

Texts go to the number you gave. Reply STOP and they stop. Message rates from your carrier apply.

Anyone with the link to your appointment page can see it, so treat it like a receipt.

If you run a shop

We keep your business name, address, phone, email, and your shop's settings and records. Your password is stored scrambled — nobody here can read it.

If you turn on texting, your business name, address and tax ID go to our texting provider and the phone carrier registry, because the carriers require it before they'll deliver business texts. That's the only thing it's used for. We don't keep your tax ID after the registration is filed.

Who else sees it

Our hosting provider, our texting provider, and the AI service that powers the chat features. Each only sees what it needs to do its job. Nobody else. We don't sell data to anybody, ever.

The chat features send what you type to an AI service to generate a reply. Don't type anything in there you wouldn't want processed that way.

How long we keep it

While the shop is a customer, and a reasonable time after in case they come back. A shop can ask us to delete their records and we'll do it.

Your choices

Ask us what we have about you and we'll tell you. Ask us to delete it and we will, unless a shop needs it for a job that's still open. Reply STOP to any text to stop texts.

Children

This isn't for anyone under 16 and we don't knowingly keep their information.
